About

Naturlig Allergimat (Natural Allergyfood in english) started as a website in March 20011 by Ulrikke and Marius Akerbæk from Norway. I – Marius – was in 2009 starting to feel sick after a stressful period, and this never seemed to stop. After several examinations and testing foods, we discovered that I react to milk and gluten.

To completely clean up my internal system I went through a long diet where we removed any artifical additive, milk, gluten, sugar, yeast and vinegar from all foods. This brought with it some challenges – but luckily, both my wife and me are enthusiastic hobby “kitcheneers” and love food. We started hunting in the grocery shops after new and alternative groceries and foods that did not contain any of the beforementioned ingredients, and tried using these as substitutes to the regular groceries or ingredients – or even create completely new recipes.

After a year on a much more healty and adjusted diet, we both feel much better. Our bodies have certainly achieved a lot of benefits from adjusting the diet, and the food we make just gets better and better. Even though I am getting better, we’ve decided to stick to this diet, as we both get more energy and more solid health from it.

Not everyone have the patience or joy of looking for or making food as we do – and we certainly don’t blame them. We searched the web for a list or source where we could use to get the help we wanted – or, needed – to get started making all the food we were used to make, but couldn’t find it. That’s why we started Naturlig Allergimat – as a website for recipes with natural, allergy-friendly food, and a source for substitutes and food that allergics can enjoy. We started this as a Norwegian only site in March 2011, and expands it to English as well in fall/autumn 2011.

We hope you as an allergic, or you as a person just looking to improve his diet, can get some use of Naturlig Allergimat.

About the website

Both Ulrikke and Marius works as designers and web developers, and designs and develops Naturlig Allergimat by themselves. We use WordPress with our own adjusted and multilingual theme, and host our pages at Norwegian PROISP.
